About Coaching
What is a creativity/artist coach?
An artist or creativity coach is a supportive, like-minded person who comes alongside and encourages people to reach goals and move beyond common issues such as:
– fear of failure/success
– perfectionism
– procrastination
– resistance to the creative process
– overwhelm
– blocks
– difficulty focusing
– self-destructive habits/thoughts
What is the philosophy/training Cora uses?
Cora believes that all people were created lovingly, and that all people have certain creative gifts. She also
believes that artists and creatives who are immersed in their work regularly, are a unique group of people,
with unique, and specific needs.
Cora has come to know that when art and creativity are valued and have a safe, healthy atmosphere to grow, inspiration and creativity thrive. She believes artist coaching is one way to provide a nurturing, supportive atmosphere for an artist.
Cora was trained through Kiazen-Muse Creativity Coaching. The Kaizen (small step) “Modern-Day Muse” approach moves beyond the rigidness of the Artist’s Way, and works well with individuals who find they resist strict rules and/or authority figures. Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching offers a light-hearted, gentle approach that is surprisingly freeing.

Will creativity coaching work for me?
Artist coaching may work for you if you relate to some of the content on this page, if Cora’s philosophy and approach feel like a fit, and if you are willing to invest in yourself. Please feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions about coaching.
I also provide a free, no-obligation, half-hour consultation (on the phone, in person, or through Skype). If artist coaching doesn’t end up fitting for you at this time, I may be able to refer you elsewhere.
See my services page for individual and group coaching opportunities.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
No, coaching and therapy are not the same.
Coaching vs. therapy has been compared to physiotherapy vs. personal training. Physiotherapy takes a body that is injured or unwell in some way, and works to bring healing, while personal training takes a body that is generally well and helps the body reach higher levels of functioning. In the same way, therapy helps people who are struggling with emotional wounds or difficult life events to heal or cope, while coaching helps people who are relatively emotionally healthy to achieve specific goals in their lives.
